pet food<자료사진=연합뉴스> Food sales businesses that falsely advertised that pet food does not contain preservatives have been subject to sanctions by the Fair Trade Commission.

The Fair Trade Commission announced today (23rd) that it has issued corrective orders to six companies, including Natourive, Natural Core, Dermadog, Dayone, Wooriwa, and Petstate.

When selling pet food, these companies used phrases such as ‘no preservatives’ or ‘no added preservatives’ to advertise that their products do not contain preservatives.

However, it was found that preservatives such as sorbic acid and benzoic acid were detected in these products at least once in past tests by an accredited testing agency.

The product names in which preservatives were detected were ‘Insect Dog Hypoallergen’, ‘Grain-Free Chicken & Salmon’, ‘Derma Dog Healthy Food Joint’, ‘Weltz Adult Dog’, ‘Halo Dog Small Breed Chicken & Chicken Liver’, and ‘Atoo Dog’. Salmon, herring, etc.

However, the detection amount was below the standard.

The Fair Trade Commission did not impose fines on the six businesses, but only issued corrective orders, including future bans.

The Fair Trade Commission voluntarily corrected the related labeling and and explained that it took into account the small amount of preservatives detected.
