FANB denounced violation of airspace by Colombian navy drone

The Bolivarian Nationwide Armed Forces denounced this Tuesday a violation of Venezuelan airspace by a Hermes-type drone, belonging to the Colombian Air Power.

The incident occurred this Monday, and was detected by the exploration programs of the Complete Aerospace Protection Command, flying over the territory of the Jesús María Semprúm municipality, Zulia state.

In an announcement, the FANB said that the plane had an altitude of 8 thousand ft, a velocity of 90 knots and a heading of 318, coming from the Bogotá FIR with out the right overflight authorization or presenting the corresponding plan to enter the nation.

“This occasion constitutes a blatant menace to the safety of the nation as a result of it’s a navy system used for aerial reconnaissance missions, which with all certainty has not been involuntary or informal, because it coincides with the presence in Colombia of Admiral Crayg Faller, Chief of the USA Southern Command, on its second go to this 12 months to New Granada territory, to supposedly focus on issues of ‘safety cooperation,'” the textual content reads.
