When war returnees founded the Wels Ski Club in 1945, a young business school graduate wrote the minutes at the first meeting. “For us there was only one idea back then: skiing and socializing. Young people and former soldiers came together to form a community,” recalled Karl Pimiskern in a retrospective of his youth published in 2020. Last week, the last founding member of Upper Austria’s largest ski club died at the age of 97.
