ORLANDO, Florida. – A woman died when she was shot by two Orlando Police officers following she ran with two knives towards the officers.
The events occurred in the 12000 block of Pioneers Way following a man, who identified himself as the woman’s boyfriend, called the emergency system indicating that his partner had expressed that he wanted to take his own life.
He also told the operator that he had a knife in his hand.
“At one point, the woman left the apartment with the knife, while she was on the phone with the negotiator. She then returned to her apartment. The woman ran out of the apartment with two knives and went following the officers. Then, two officers they shot at him individually,” read the statement from the authorities.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by OFD. No officers were injured.
The two officers who shot the woman are trained in Crisis Intervention, according to written statements, and have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
