A lady was hit by a train this Saturday, around 2:45 p.m., at the level crossing located along the Chaussée des Ballons, in Herseaux. She died instantly.
The Tournai-Mons prosecutor’s office mentions suicide. “The victim was born in 1965 and lives in Herseaux,” he specifies.
Passengers on the IC Liers-Mouscron train were evacuated. Infrabel reports that train traffic is interrupted between Froyennes and Mouscron. A replacement bus service has been put in place. The gradual resumption of rail traffic is estimated at around 7:30 p.m. at the earliest.
Traffic is also disrupted along the Chaussée des Ballons, and a diversion has been put in place by the local police.
