A 42-year-old man lost his life on Wednesday when he jumped into a river in New Jersey, United States, to save his three children, several American media report.
The tragedy occurred around 2 p.m. in the Millstone River, near Franklin Township.
According to witnesses met by the police, the man’s three children, aged 8, 11 and 13, entered the water before their father and quickly found themselves in distress.
The 42-year-old immediately jumped into the river and heroically managed to pull all three of them out of the water.
Unfortunately, once the children were safe, the father reportedly struggled to keep his balance and slipped under the water.
Diving teams recovered his body following a three-hour search.
