Fauchon has returned to Recent York City with a new hybrid boutique, bakery, café, and private dining space at 1100 Avenue of the Americas, marking a significant expansion for the French gastronomy brand after a two-decade absence. The opening, completed at the end of 2025, is a partnership with Restaurant Associates, a division of Compass Group.
The 500-square-meter location offers breakfast, brunch, and lunch service daily, closing to the public at 4 p.m., with private event availability in the evenings Monday through Friday. The establishment caters to 75-100 guests, according to a job posting for an Executive Chef position at the location.
Fauchon’s expansion follows its acquisition in May 2024 by the Breton company Galapagos, which likewise owns brands like Gavottes, Traou Mad, and Fossier biscuits. Galapagos President Jérôme Tacquard stated that “The gastronomy française and the Parisian lifestyle arouse a strong appetite all over the world.”
The New York location is part of a broader international strategy for Fauchon, which plans six additional openings abroad this year alongside renovations of existing stores. The company utilizes a franchise model for its international growth. In Costa Rica, five locations are planned, with the first store scheduled to open in 2026, in partnership with a local family-owned distribution company.
Fauchon’s approach to partnerships varies depending on the project. In New York, Restaurant Associates, a specialist in dining and event catering, is the partner. The head of Restaurant Associates was familiar with Fauchon from his time at the Lucas Carton restaurant in Paris, where Fauchon previously operated a flagship store.
To support its expansion, Fauchon has established a “Fauchon Académie” in Paris to train staff in the brand’s standards, covering customer service, product personalization, and signature packaging. The company also offers tours of its manufacturing facilities to showcase product specifics.
Fauchon reported €80 million in revenue under its brand in 2025 and currently operates in approximately twenty countries. The company is actively pursuing opportunities in North and Central America, Asia, and the Middle East, despite challenges in the latter region, including the conflict in Iran. Future projects include a café, bistro, and boutique within the St. Regis hotel in Oman, and a residential complex in Dubai featuring apartments, a swimming pool, and private event space, slated for completion in July 2027.
When opening locations with food service, Fauchon sends its executive chef to train the local kitchen staff, providing recipes and overseeing product sourcing to ensure quality. The initial menus are designed to be easily executable, with potential for evolution as the local team gains experience.
Fauchon plans to increase its visibility at industry events, including the duty-free present in Singapore in May and the TFWA World Exhibition & Conference in Cannes in September, to further its international presence and growth in the travel retail sector. The company is celebrating its 140th anniversary this year.
