For St. Pauli’s World Cup hero Jackson Irvine (29), it’s Wednesday (4 p.m., Magenta TV) with Australia once morest Denmark for the round of 16.

On the non-match day, over a cup of coffee, he took the time to answer fan questions at the Australian Football Association’s breakfast talk – and shared details regarding his career.

…his first World Cup memories: “In 2002, when I was nine, I was fascinated by the opening game between Senegal and France. The underdog beat the world champion – that was crazy.”

…his high point in his career: “My first international match in 2013 (3-0 once morest Canada, ed.), that was difficult to grasp.”

…his low point in his career: “In 2020 I had no club during the first Corona lockdown in England. There were doubts regarding the career. A few months later Hibernian brought me to Scotland. I was so thankful.”

…his current club FC St. Pauli: “A special place, a special community that welcomed me with open arms. Rarely in my career have I felt as at home as I do there. I feel very connected and see my future there too.”

…his music career: “In high school we had a band called ‘Take It Easy, Danny Allen’ following a popular book. If you want to hear me croak songs: The songs can still be found on the internet.”

…his gaming talent in e-gaming: “Hard to believe, but I don’t do that at all. That’s not my thing.”

…his favorite place for a beer: “It’s Mrs. Parma’s in Melbourne.”

…his tattoo artists: “I just had something done in Hamburg, but my favorite tattoo artist is Kain Marshall in Hull.”

…the chances of reaching the round of 16: “The Danes are technically strong and have high quality. We have to find a way to hurt them.”
