FCG mourns the loss of its former federal chairman and defense minister Robert Lichal

Vienna (OTS) – It is with deep sadness that the Fraction of Christian Trade Unionists (FCG) has noted the death of its former federal chairman Robert Lichal. The former defense minister, whose name is inextricably linked to the history of Austrian politics and the Christian trade union movement, died at the age of 92.

“The FCG mourns the loss of a man who achieved great things not only as a politician, but also as a Christian trade unionist over decades. His tireless commitment to the concerns of employees and his commitment to the values ​​of Christian social teaching will not be forgotten,” says FCG – Federal Chairwoman and ÖGB Vice President Abg. e.g. NR Romana Deckenbacher praised the great achievements of Robert Lichal.

“In this time of farewell and mourning, our deepest sympathy goes out to the relatives and friends of the deceased. His legacy will live on in our hearts as we remember his unique and inspiring personality,” the FCG Federal Chairwoman concluded.

Dr. Robert Lichal held numerous important political and trade union positions during his long career. Among other things, he was Federal Minister for National Defense, Second President of the National Council, ÖAAB Federal Chairman, Deputy Chairman of the Public Service Union and FCG Federal Chairman.
