: Dallas ICE Office Shooting: Suspect Acted Alone, planned Attack Months in Advance
A Fairview, texas resident has been identified as the shooter who fatally shot a detainee and wounded two others at a Dallas Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility before taking his own life. Joshua Jahn, 29, carried out the attack with a bolt-action rifle, firing into the building and towards law enforcement vehicles.
Authorities said Jahn acted alone and left behind notes detailing his intent to target ICE agents and cause disruption. According to Acting U.S. Attorney Nancy Larson,Jahn referred to ICE agents as individuals “showing up to collect a dirty paycheck” and explicitly wanted to maximize harm while minimizing unintended consequences.
Evidence suggests Jahn meticulously planned the attack for months, utilizing ICE tracking apps and facts about other Department of Homeland Security facilities. He also reportedly used a ladder to gain a vantage point on the roof of an adjacent building. Officials discovered shell casings at the scene with the phrase “Anti-ICE” scrawled on one.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has ordered increased security at facilities nationwide following the incident.
Further investigation revealed that Jahn did not have connections to organized groups. He seemingly destroyed digital evidence of his plans, writing, “good luck with the digital footprint.”
