Fernando Alonso’s €20M+ Car Collection: From Hypercars to a Toyota Yaris

Monaco is known for its luxury and extravagance, and few embody that spirit quite like Formula 1 champion Fernando Alonso. But his taste in automobiles isn’t solely defined by high-performance machines. Alongside a collection valued at over €20 million, featuring unique hypercars and legendary Ferraris, Alonso also drives a surprisingly practical Toyota Yaris. This eclectic mix reveals a lesser-known facet of the champion’s personality, a blend of speed, passion, and understated practicality.

Alonso, a two-time Formula 1 World Champion, winner of the World Endurance Championship (WEC), and a 24 Hours of Le Mans victor, has resided in Monaco for several years. The principality’s security and the constant presence of automotive enthusiasts – or “carspotters” – have gradually unveiled the extent of his automotive passion, which extends far beyond the vehicles provided by racing sponsors. His collection, as reported by Car and Driver, is a testament to a lifelong love of automobiles.

A Showcase of Automotive Excellence

At the pinnacle of Alonso’s collection sits the Aston Martin Valkyrie, often described as a Formula 1 car adapted for the road. This hypercar combines a 6.5-liter Cosworth naturally aspirated V12 engine with an electric motor, producing a combined 1,160 horsepower. Limited to just 150 examples, with a price tag starting at €3 million, the Valkyrie has been spotted both on the streets of Monaco and on the racetrack, a testament to Alonso’s desire to experience its capabilities fully.

Another highly personal piece is the Aston Martin Valiant, developed from the Valour model after Alonso requested a version that was “lighter, more fun, more powerful, more sporty, and with a design inspired by racing cars.” The result is a V12 5.3-liter biturbo engine producing 745 horsepower, paired with a six-speed manual transmission and radical aerodynamics. Initially conceived as a one-off for Alonso, Aston Martin ultimately produced 38 units, priced around €2.33 million each, including a brass-colored example in his garage.

Iconic Classics and Modern Power

Alonso maintains a strong connection to Ferrari, owning a black Ferrari LaFerrari, the marque’s first hybrid model. Combining a 6.2-liter V12 engine producing 800 horsepower with a 163-horsepower electric motor, the LaFerrari boasts a total output of 963 horsepower. Produced in a limited run of 499 examples with an initial price of €1.3 million, the LaFerrari now commands prices between €3 and €4 million on the market. Alongside it reside absolute classics: a Ferrari F40 (V8 biturbo, 478 hp, 1,311 examples, current value between €2.5 and €3 million) and a Ferrari 512 TR, an evolution of the Testarossa with a 4.9-liter V12 engine producing 428 horsepower, capable of reaching 313 km/h and estimated at around €260,000 in fine condition.

Among the most exclusive vehicles in his collection is the Mercedes CLK GTR, a GT1 race car barely adapted for road apply. Only 25 examples were homologated (plus one for Mercedes), equipped with a 612-horsepower V12 engine, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and reaching a top speed of 320 km/h. Some examples have sold for over €10 million. He also owns a Ford GT Holman Moody Heritage Edition, a special edition paying homage to the GT40’s victory at the 1966 Le Mans, featuring a 3.5-liter biturbo V6 engine producing 660 horsepower and valued at over €1 million. Alonso also reportedly owns a Mercedes SLR McLaren 722 Edition, limited to 150 examples, with a supercharged 5.5-liter V8 engine producing 650 horsepower. He has stated, according to Car and Driver, that he believes We see “the most beautiful car in the world.”

From the DBX707 to the Everyday Yaris

Alonso’s collection isn’t solely about extremes. He is frequently seen driving an Aston Martin DBX707, officially a company car during Grand Prix weekends, but with some units clearly his own. This luxury SUV is powered by a 4.0-liter V8 engine producing 707 horsepower and 900 Nm of torque, costing from €254,201 in Spain. A more understated but equally symbolic vehicle from his time with Alpine is a personalized Alpine A110 S, featuring logos and details dedicated to the driver, powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 252 or 300 horsepower, with a price range of “between €70,000 and €330,000” depending on the version. Alpine even launched a limited series A110 R Fernando Alonso, limited to 32 examples, though it’s unclear if he retained one.

And then there’s the surprise: a very simple Toyota Yaris Hybrid. Far removed from the seven-figure hypercars, this 3.9-meter-long model offers 116 horsepower, a claimed fuel consumption of 3.9 l/100 km, and an entry price of around €21,775. Carspotters have filmed him driving this Yaris near the famous tunnel of Monaco, with a “140S” license plate, strongly suggesting his ownership. A significant detail: in the principality, cars that truly belong to him often feature a personalized license plate with his lucky number 14. From a Lamborghini Sián hybrid producing 819 horsepower and built in 63 examples for around €3.3 million, to this modest city car, Alonso’s collection reflects both his immense passion for exceptional machines and his occasional desire for a quiet, low-profile drive.

As Alonso continues to compete at the highest levels of motorsport, his automotive collection will undoubtedly continue to evolve. The blend of cutting-edge technology, classic beauty, and everyday practicality suggests a discerning eye and a genuine love for all things automotive. What modern additions will grace his Monaco garage remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: Fernando Alonso’s passion for cars is as strong as ever.
