FIFA threatens to expel Brazil from international competitions – news

FIFA threatens to exclude the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) and all its clubs from international competitions.

At issue is the decision of the Court of Justice of Rio de Janeiro (TJRJ) to remove Ednaldo Rodrigues from the presidency of the CBF and to force elections to be called by the last week of next January.

Something seen as external interference to a federation by third parties, a situation that FIFA does not tolerate.

“FIFA member associations must manage their affairs independently and without undue influence from any type of third party”, can be read in the letter that FIFA and CONMEBOL sent to the CBF, in which the two organizations emphasize that they do not recognize José Perdiz, president of the Supreme Court of Sports Justice (STJD), as interim leader of the CBF, appointed by the TJRJ to guarantee federative management until the imminent holding of elections. A possible suspension might leave the Brazilian team out of the 2026 World Cup.
