The Finance Ministry on Tuesday gave a green light to the Rs 60,000 crore incentive program to bolster urban housing initiatives. According to the ET Now exclusive report, the Expenditure Finance Committee, a key arm of the Finance Ministry, has approved the Housing Ministry’s proposal, signalling a significant stride in promoting affordable housing in urban areas. In his 15th August speech, PM Modi announced a plan to offer interest subsidies on bank loans for those living in urban slums, chawls, rented houses and unauthorised colonies to have their own houses.
