Financial blockade: Hungary and Poland take EU hostage

BThis dispute is about what holds Europe together: shared value and a lot of money. Hungary and Poland are blocking the 750 billion euros in Corona aid and the EU budget for the next seven years in Brussels. The two governments want to prevent Brussels from cutting EU funds in the future if member states violate constitutional principles such as the independence of the courts or the freedom of the press. By blocking a decisive vote on Monday, the two Central European countries plunged the Union into a serious crisis.
