A person was poisoned following a fire which completely destroyed a home on rue du Pont-de-Bayenne in Purnode (Yvoir), Saturday around 1:15 a.m., indicates fire spokesperson for the Dinaphi zone Patrice Liétart .
Significant resources were sent to the site by the emergency services, namely a pumper, a tanker and an officer from Yvoir joined by a ladder truck and a tanker from Dinant. The occupants were able to leave the premises on their own.
“When firefighters arrived on scene, they noticed that flames were coming out of the upstairs windows and devouring the roof. While a first team carried out the extinction from the outside, a second team entered the building to contain the violent outbreak which was raging in one of the rooms. A third team was responsible for limiting the spread of the fire in the roof from the aerial ladder.“, continues the spokesperson.
A person who had breathed a significant amount of smoke was treated by paramedics and transported to Vésale hospital in Charleroi.
The damage is significant and the house is uninhabitable. The cause of the fire is still unknown.
