First Look: Unboxing the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold

Samsung is making the launch of the Galaxy Z TriFold quite an event and that is not surprising: it is the first time that the brand has opted for this form factor. We don’t know what it costs yet, but we now know what you can expect in the box. Samsung itself put an unboxing online.

The twice-folding phone comes with a charger, which is unique for a Samsung phone. It is a 45 Watt charger. We also see that Samsung includes a case, so that you can properly protect your luxury device. We also see more of the TriFold itself: the large 10-inch screen is mainly put in the spotlight for its multitasking options. For example, we can see a chair.

Samsung says: “The Galaxy Z TriFold has a 10-inch (253.1 mm) main screen that folds out into a panoramic display for a cinema-like viewing experience with vibrant colors and clarity. Multi-window allows users to run three apps side by side in portrait mode, offering endless versatility. Powered by Samsung DeX, the device turns into a fully working environment virtually anywhere.”

The screen of the smartphone is 2160×1584 pixels and it is smaller than the Huawei Mate XT: it has a 10.2 inch inner screen. There are five cameras on Samsung’s device: a 200 megapixel main camera, a 12 megapixel wide-angle lens and a 10 megapixel telephoto lens that can magnify 3 times. There are also two selfie cameras on board, each 10 megapixels.

Recommended retail price still unknown

The TriFold will be released in Korea later this week, but a suggested retail price has not yet been announced. It will come to America early next year and that is probably why Samsung has planned a First Look event during the global trade fair CES. Whether and when he will come to Europe is still unknown.
