German TV channel ZDF denounced Claudia Neumann’s exposure to sexual insults following she became the first woman on German television to comment on the Champions League final.
Social media users directed harsh criticism and hatred of the 59-year-old football journalist during the final match between Manchester City and Inter Milan, which was held in Istanbul, yesterday, Saturday evening.
Numan, the beneficiary of the “women’s share”, was subject to a repeated approach of abuse on communication platforms such as Twitter and TikTok.
The channel’s sports programming director, York Poulos, denounced this behavior on Sunday.
Poulos said, “The constructive and objective criticism of her work is absolutely wonderful … However, it is completely unacceptable, so much hate and insult to which she was subjected.”
Paulos described Numan as a “professional and experienced commentator, who proved it once more in the Champions League final.”
A week ago, she commented on the UEFA Women’s Champions League final.
