Five-year-old girl raped; Defendant tied to a tree by a group of women and beaten to death, rape case, murder, beat him to death

Agartala: A woman accused of raping a woman was tied to a tree and beaten to death in Tripura. A 46-year-old man accused of raping a five-year-old girl has been beaten to death by a group of women in the area. The incident took place at Gandachera police station in Dhalai district.

A five-year-old girl was raped in the village on Tuesday night. The accused was taking away the girl who had come to attend a religious function with her mother. He took the girl to a nearby forest and raped her, following which she fled. The boy was later rescued by neighbors and rushed to hospital.

The locals also alleged that the child was last seen with the accused following the incident. Locals blocked the Gandachera-Amarpur National Highway demanding his arrest. After this, a group of women grabbed him, tied him to a tree and beat him. He died at the hospital.

He had earlier been sentenced to eight years in prison in connection with a murder case.

Police said they are investigating the rape case and the murder of the accused.
