Flag Football’s Rise: From World Games in Birmingham to Olympic Potential in 2028

Flag football continues to dig its furrow. Still in the running for entry into the Olympic program at the Los Angeles 2028 Games, he has just been confirmed for the 2025 World Games in Chengdu, China (August 7 to 17). Its presence in the multi-sport event follows a remarkable entry into the 2022 World Games in Birmingham, Alabama, where the tournament brought together the 16 best teams in the world. According to the International Federation of American Football (IFAF), flag football is currently experiencing strong growth in China, with more than 300,000 young players involved in school programs. In total, more than 20 million people currently practice the discipline in more than 100 countries on all continents. The exact dates for the flag football competition in Chengdu in 2025 have not yet been confirmed, but the Chinese organizers have chosen to prioritize the women’s tournament.
