The guards of the archaeological area of ​​the ancient quarry in Aswan managed to seize people while they were excavating next to the statue of Ramses II in an attempt to steal it.

Dr. Abdel Moneim Saeed, General Supervisor of Tourism and Antiquities in Aswan, said that he had received a report from the guards of the archaeological area in the old quarry in Aswan, and that while they were passing through the area, they found people digging and moving around next to the statue of Ramses II.

The accused were kept in custody, the Tourism and Antiquities Police were notified, the necessary report was issued, and the Public Prosecution office was notified for investigation.
