The average number of coronavirus infections rose to 1,476 per day between September 15 and 21, provisional figures from the latest update of the dashboard of the Institute of Public Health, Sciensano (+ 48% compared to the previous seven-day period). The rate of contamination per 100,000 inhabitants, calculated over the period from September 8 to 21, jumped to 150 (+144%).
The number of contaminations in Belgium now stands at 108,768.
The number of hospital admissions is also increasing and stands at 62.3 per day on average (for the period from September 17 to 23). A total of 19,920 people have been hospitalized since the start of the crisis.
The Covid-19 caused the death of 9,965 people in Belgium.
