In a message to federal, state and local law enforcement, intelligence agencies express “concern” regarding certain users of online communities who threaten or encourage “acts of violence in response” to the attack on Trump, according to ABC today.
The joint message, sent on Monday evening, states that “lonely actors” o small groups of extremists “will probably continue to see” political rallies and campaign events as “attractive targets“, and highlights the difficulty of detecting these threats.

The attack “reinforces our assessment that election-related targets are under a high threat of attack or other types of disruptive incidents,” the agencies said.

The investigation is still ongoing, but the message picked up by ABC provides “preliminary” information regarding Crooks’ actions prior to the attack: He purchased 50 rounds of ammunition from a local gun store and received several packages in previous monthssome with a label stating “possible dangerous content.”
