AAfter the Mediapro fiasco, the Professional Football League (LFP) is looking for a new broadcaster for the television rights of Ligue 1 and Ligue 2. The board of directors of the LFP therefore accepted, Thursday January 14, 2021, to launch a call for tenders for the rights held by the Sino-Spanish group, namely 8 Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 matches per day. Until he finds a buyer, the television channels offer their services. Thus, according to The Parisian, the France Televisions group has contacted the Professional Football League to assure them that it is ready to broadcast matches, in the event that Téléfoot is no longer able to do so. These exchanges date back to the end of 2020, writes the daily Friday, January 15. However, the public group would not wish to acquire the lot left by Téléfoot.
In addition, other television groups have shown their appetites. Le Figaro revealed this Friday that the M6 and TF1 groups have also offered to the LFP. In a letter sent to the LFP, M6 proposed to broadcast in clear some matches of the French championships, pending a new official broadcaster. The chairman of the M6 group’s executive board, Nicolas de Tavernost, also indicated in his letter to the LFP: “Without wanting to interfere in the current discussions around the rights of Ligue 1, our channels are not intended to be worn. buyers of lots, we wanted to tell you that […] we could provide you with our antennas for the broadcasting of a particular match in order to offer visibility to your competition and its sponsors, to avoid any break in broadcasting and thus ensure the necessary social link around the broadcasting of Ligue 1 . “
Téléfoot will broadcast until January 31
Ditto for TF1, including a specific press release : “TF1 is a long-standing partner of French football and even if we do not intend to buy the championship, we are quite ready to discuss with the LFP to help them find a solution in this difficult period. “For its part, Téléfoot La Chaîne will broadcast the matches of Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 at least until Sunday, January 31, at the end of the 22e day of the two championships.
