Washington D.C. | For the first time in American history, a black man has served as a judge on the Supreme Court. Ketanji Brown Jackson, 51, is making history. In the Senate election, Brown was elected by 53 votes to 47.
The election was chaired by Vice President Kamala Harris. Biden tweeted that he was taking a new step, reflecting the diversity of the country. When Kamala Harris announced the name of Ketanji Brown, Joe Biden was delighted to have them attached.
Jackson will replace Justice Stephen Breyer. At previous Senate hearings, Jackson talked regarding his parents’ racism and their struggle with racial segregation.
