The Serbian, former European champion as a player in 2001 with Yugoslavia, was urgently hospitalized the day before following feeling unwell during a private dinner. He was 46 years old.

A few hours before the announcement of the death, the NBA had postponed indefinitely the Warriors match scheduled at the Jazz.

“We are devastated following the sudden passing of Dejan,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said in a statement.
