The Federal Criminal Court has imposed a 24-month suspended sentence on a former manager of the pension fund of the canton of St. Gallen. The accused is found guilty of unfair management and repeated insider trading.

The custodial sentence is accompanied by a pecuniary penalty of 30 day-fines of 50 francs, also suspended. Charges of unfair management of public interests and money laundering were dismissed. The judgment is not final and can be appealed to the Court of Appeal of the Federal Criminal Court.

The former portfolio manager of the pension fund appeared for having coordinated professional stock market transactions and for his own account. The Public Ministry of the Confederation (MPC) had requested a sentence of 4 years in prison.
