In the night hours of this Sunday, the seven members of the Valencian family were found safe and sound, who were missing following sailing from San Andrés Island, in Colombia, to Corn Island in Nicaragua.

After seven days without the relatives having news of their loved ones, who tried to migrate to the US, this Sunday they received the best news of their lives: They were all found alive, although dehydrated.

Jennifer Oliveros, a relative of the migrants, confirmed the finding in Costa Rican waters and said that other Venezuelans were also on the boat. “So far we don’t know what happened. I spoke with my mother (Yraida Álvarez) and we focused more on knowing regarding her health and that of the rest of the family. They are in a shelter, they are with the Red Cross. They went seven days without eating.

The Valencians disappeared on August 8 when they left San Andrés to make a new route that leads to the US, which avoids crossing the Darién, and since then they have not heard from them until this Sunday. Among the missing were two children, ages 6 and 8.
