France: public debt exceeds 3000 billion euros – 06/30/2023 at 13:38

(CercleFinance.com) – At the end of the first quarter of 2023, France’s public debt within the meaning of Maastricht increased by 63.4 billion euros to 3013.4 billion. As a percentage of GDP, it increased by 0.7 points over three months to stand at 112.5%.

INSEE, which publishes these data, specifies that the increase in the gross debt of general government resulted from that of the State (+48.6 billion euros) and social security administrations (+17.4 billion).

The debt of miscellaneous central government bodies decreased (-€2.8 billion), due to the debt reduction of SNCF Réseau and France Competence, while that of local public administrations remained stable (+0.2 billion ).
