Axel Hellmann, a spokesman for the Eintracht Frankfurt board, confirmed that Barcelona is not guilty of the large attendance of regarding 25,000 fans of the German team at the Camp Nou stadium, in the second leg of the European League quarter-final, in which Eintracht qualified at the expense of Barcelona following its victory. Hellmann told the media: “It was a big surprise for me that 25,000 fans entered the stadium, because we only received 5,000 tickets. Barcelona is not guilty.”
He added: “The fans got the tickets by all means possible. We, as a club, can’t control that. They (the fans) are the most creative when it comes to getting tickets in any way possible. It was, and it will be forever.”
Hellmann expressed his confidence that his team’s fans will follow the same method when visiting West Ham United in the semi-finals of the tournament.
