Why get tested?

Screening is suitable for people who do not have any symptoms of cancer. Screening programs can help detect cancer earlier, leading to better health outcomes (Cancer Care Ontario). Screening can detect precancerous changes or cancer at an early stage, leading to treatment with a greater chance of success. According to the Canadian Cancer Societyscreening for cervical cancer, breast cancer, colorectal cancer and lung cancer have several advantages:

The screening test can reassure you if the results are normal. The screening test can help prevent cancer by revealing changes in your body that would become cancerous if left untreated. The screening test can help detect cancer before symptoms appear, when it is easier to treat. The screening test can help detect cancer before it spreads, when it is easier to treat. Early detection can reduce the duration of treatment and convalescence. The sooner the cancer is detected, the better the chances of survival.
