Free Cancer Screenings Event in Saint-Pons-de-Thomières: Encouraging Women to Get Tested

2024-01-16 04:37:45

This Tuesday, January 16, the Saint-Pons-de-Thomières hospital, the CPAM de l’Hérault and the MSA are organizing a day dedicated to screenings. It will be possible to carry out screenings for the three most common cancers in women: breast, cervix and colon. Particular attention was paid to women far from the act of care. “We called around a hundred women who have complementary health insurance or without complementary health insurance to encourage them to get tested.” explains Aline Chambert, head of communications at Saint-Pons hospital.

According to a study by the League Against Cancer, less than one in two women aged 50 to 74 have had their mammogram in 2022. This is why health professionals are coming together to try to reverse the trend. Three midwives will be present during this day to take smears and carry out prevention.
