Bucaramanga is expanding access to sports for its youth with the launch of free training programs across the city. The initiative, led by the Institute of Youth, Sports and Recreation of Bucaramanga (INDERBU), aims to provide opportunities for children and adolescents aged 6 to 13 to participate in a variety of athletic disciplines. Registration is now open, and the program is designed to promote healthy lifestyles and expand sporting opportunities throughout the municipality.
INDERBU’s fresh program offers training in 15 different sports, including soccer, swimming, basketball, skating, volleyball, table tennis, field tennis, micro soccer, taekwondo, karate-do, gymnastics, BMX, cycling, and track and field. Notably, the program also includes dedicated modalities for children with disabilities, furthering inclusivity in local sports. The activities will be supervised by qualified Physical Education professionals in both urban and rural sectors of Bucaramanga.
“We hope that all the children in our municipality join and remember that We see completely free,” stated Karol Zulith González, confirming the program’s accessibility. Registration is being conducted online through the official INDERBU website, with information banners for each discipline providing details on training locations and contact information. Alternatively, prospective participants can call (607) 6854594, option one, for guidance.
To complete registration, a medical certificate confirming fitness to participate in sports, proof of health system affiliation, a completed registration form, the minor’s identification document, and a signed informed consent form from a guardian are required. The program’s launch reflects a broader effort to integrate sports as a key component of youth development and well-being in Bucaramanga.
Expanding Access Through Free Training
The initiative addresses a critical need for accessible sports programs, particularly for families who may face financial barriers to participation. By removing cost as an obstacle, INDERBU hopes to encourage greater involvement in physical activity among children and adolescents. The program’s availability across the 17 communes and three townships of Bucaramanga ensures that opportunities are distributed throughout the city, reaching a wider range of young people.
Registration Details and Requirements
Interested families can find detailed information and registration links on the INDERBU website. The allocation of places will be based on the order of registration, subject to the capacity of each venue. Given the program’s popularity, early registration is encouraged. The required documentation – medical certificate, health system affiliation proof, registration form, identification, and informed consent – is essential for finalizing enrollment.
INDERBU emphasizes that the strategy aims to promote sport as a training tool, strengthen healthy living habits and expand opportunities to practice sports throughout the city. The program’s focus on both physical and mental well-being underscores its commitment to holistic youth development.
The inclusion of specific modalities for the disabled population is a significant step towards greater inclusivity in sports. According to a recent report, Bucaramanga is increasingly recognized for its inclusive playgrounds and sports programs for children with disabilities, demonstrating a growing commitment to accessibility and equal opportunities.
Looking ahead, INDERBU will continue to monitor the program’s impact and gather feedback from participants and families. The success of this initiative could pave the way for further expansion of free sports programs and increased investment in youth sports infrastructure in Bucaramanga.
