Al-Marsad newspaper: French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin defended his opinion that Karim Benzema “has links to the Muslim Brotherhood organization.”
Darmanin said that Benzema has an “extraordinary societal responsibility,” noting: “You may wonder why the Minister of the Interior reacted to a football player’s tweet, but when it affects 20 million people, I think my role is to condemn it.”
The French minister continued: “Because you can ask what a football player does when he tweets regarding a political opinion, and when he does so, he does so in a selective manner, and I personally believe that this hides something, and not seeing it is naive.”
It is worth noting that Benzema announced his support for the residents of Gaza during the Israeli bombing, following the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7th.
