French police open fire on a vehicle that did not stop during a search of a vehicle in central Paris. The media reported that two people were killed in the incident.

The incident took place around midnight on Sunday at a traffic control point in the Pont Newf area. Police asked the driver to stop the vehicle for inspection. But instead of following the instructions, he tried to hit the car with the officers. One of the officers then fired in self-defense.

The driver and former passenger were shot and killed. A third passenger in the back has been admitted to hospital with a hand injury.
