Breaking News: Mun Music Notes 2023 in Pesaro – A Month Full of Musical Masterpieces
Pesaro, Italy – Get ready for a month-long celebration of music as the tenth edition of Mun Music Notes returns to Palazzo Gradari from July 2 to 30. This annual event, organized by the Municipality of Pesaro in collaboration with OrT and the artistic vision of Eugenio Della Chiara, promises an immersive musical journey through the works of Šostakovič, Boccherini, and Bach.
Exploring the Genius of Šostakovič, Boccherini, and Bach
The festival kicks off on July 2 with the Quartet Noûs performing a selection of Dmitrij Šostakovič’s quartets. Known for his deeply personal and often politically charged compositions, Šostakovič’s music offers a unique exploration of the relationship between artists and their patrons.
On July 9, the festival welcomes cellist Michele Marco Rossi, renowned for his whimsical and innovative performances. Rossi will present a program that spans centuries and contexts, featuring works by Hindemith, Prokof’ev, and more.
July 16 brings a focus on Luigi Boccherini, the Italian composer who spent his final years in Madrid seeking patronage. Boccherini’s quintets for arches and guitar will be performed using original instruments, including a rare six-string guitar built in 1805.
On July 23, Cecilia Cartoceti, Nicoletta Pignataro, and Sebastiano Severi will present a transcription for trio of arches of Bach’s Goldberg Variations. This performance offers a fresh perspective on one of Bach’s most enduring masterpieces.
The festival concludes on July 30 with a baritone recital by Matteo Mancini, accompanied by Elisa Cerri on piano. The program explores the theme of music’s ability to narrate the relationship between man and power, featuring works by Handel, Mozart, and others.
