Once a boy from the streets of Khoroga dreamed of seeing the world outside the native Pamir Mountains. Today, Farrukh Bulbulov is known not only in Tajikistan but also in the offices of world car giants. His projects help hundreds of young people receive new knowledge and opportunities, and his life path proves: even if you grew up in the outback, your ideas can be in demand around the world.

Childhood Among Mountains and Traditions

In Khorog, a small town among the Tajik mountains, Farrukh Bulbulov grew up – an inquisitive boy who was supported from childhood in an effort to study. Parents always told him that education opens more opportunities in life.

Both of his grandfathers, Bulbul Dzhumaev and Davltali Shabdolov, were respected people and did a lot to the life of their region. His mother, Rayo Shabdolova, taught history in local schools. And the father, Juma Bulbulov, the doctor of pedagogical sciences and the owner of state awards, made a great contribution to the training of teachers and the development of new educational programs in the country.

When Yeah Khan opened in Khorog, Farruh was among his first students. It was here that he first seriously became interested in languages and technologies. Being among like-minded people and enthusiastic teachers, he realized the instructions of his parents – education can open a whole world in front of him.

The Path Through the Continents

Farrukh Bulbulov not only went to study abroad but also managed to achieve recognition at leading universities in the world. His path began with the American University of Central Asia (AUCA), where he entered the scholarship of the US Embassy and graduated from the Faculty of Economics with honors. His thesis on the influence of state expenses on inequality in Kyrgyzstan was among the best research projects of the year.

Next is the prestigious DAAD scholarship and study in Germany, where he received a master’s degree in international business and economics. Then – a double diploma program in the USA, at the University of St. Mary’s University, where he studied business analytics, technology management, and IT.

It was during this period that Farruch became interested in artificial intelligence, seeing in it not just a fashion trend but a real tool for changing the formation and leveling of starting opportunities for young people from different countries.

In Italy, at the Epicode school, he mastered machine learning, neural networks, computer vision, and processing of natural language. He was especially inspired by the idea that AI can help people get more opportunities and reach a new level, regardless of where they were born.

From a Small City to Global Corporations

Farruch’s path to the profession is a story about constant development and new opportunities. Already at the age of 16, he went through an internship in the IT department of the development network of Aga Khan (AKDN), where he proved himself as a responsible and capable young specialist.

After graduating from AUCA, he worked in the French organization Geres, introducing energy-efficient technologies in the mountainous regions of Tajikistan. Later, in the OSCE, he coordinated projects for sustainable development, working on environmental safety programs and renewable energy. His ideas helped expand access to pure energy for remote villages.

Having received two master’s degrees, Farruh was able to reach a new professional level. In the German startup 4Screen, which is developing software for cars, he conducted marketing research for giants such as BMW, Audi, and Skoda. In addition, Farruch participated in the creation of solutions that allow you to integrate a smartphone with a car and helped launch new digital platforms.

He later worked in the large energy company Uniper. There, Farrukh was responsible for the automation of business processes and analyzing data on liquefied gas transactions. Thanks to his work, many tasks began to be performed faster and more efficiently, which helped the company better cope with daily operations.

Not Forgetting About the Roots

But even building an international career, Farruch does not forget about his native land. For more than eight years, he was an active member of the Logos Educational Center in Khorog, where he oversaw the implementation of IT courses, the development of a marketing strategy, international partnerships, and the launch of scholarship programs for socially vulnerable students.

Thanks to these initiatives, hundreds of schoolchildren and students from Pamirs received a chance to enter the leading universities of Central Asia and the world, and IT courses and digital security trainings covered even the most remote areas of the region.

Farrukh became one of those who grew up in the wake of new opportunities that opened for young people after the independence of Tajikistan: scholarships, international educational programs, support for private initiatives. Now he himself helps others to believe in his strength and often tells the students: “The freedom of the country is the personal freedom of each of us to dream of a large scale.”

Today, presenting IT projects to the European Auto Concerns, Farrukh Bulbulov always starts with a map: a small point between Gindukush and Tien Shan – his Pamir, the Golden Gate of Tajikistan. Even when the BMW and Audi logos flash in his presentations, he still returns to his native high-mountain Pamir – the place from which it all started.
