ADAC Fuel Price Comparison: Save Up to 48 Cents per Liter in Baden-Württemberg
In breaking news from the ADAC, a recent fuel price comparison has revealed significant savings for drivers in Baden-Württemberg. According to the ADAC’s latest report, motorists can save up to 48 cents per liter by avoiding petrol stations on highways and opting for those just off the next exit.
Key Findings from the ADAC Report
The ADAC examined fuel prices at 50 petrol stations along German highways and compared them with prices at the nearest off-highway petrol stations. In Baden-Württemberg, the differences were particularly stark. Drivers could save an average of 47.6 cents per liter for Super E10 and 48 cents per liter for diesel by choosing to refuel off the highway.
Holger Bach, Head of Transport & Environment at ADAC Württemberg, emphasizes the financial benefits: “In Baden-Württemberg, a 50-liter tank filling at a petrol station next to the highway costs an average of around 24 euros less. A short detour is therefore almost always worthwhile.”
Where Are the Biggest Savings?
The ADAC identified the motorway petrol station OB der Tauber Ost on the A81 as having the largest price difference. Diesel here costs 50.3 cents more per liter than at the next off-highway petrol station. For Super E10, the highest price difference was found at the Kraichgau Nord (A6) motorway petrol station, with a surcharge of 49.8 cents per liter compared to a nearby station in Sinsheim.
How to Make the Most of Your Fuel Budget
To ensure you’re getting the best deal, Bach recommends using apps to compare fuel prices. “Taking a short detour can lead to substantial savings,” he advises. With the right tools and a bit of planning, drivers can significantly reduce their fuel expenses.
Historical Context and Future Implications
The trend of higher fuel prices on highways is not new. Over the years, numerous studies have shown that convenience often comes at a premium. As fuel costs continue to fluctuate, being aware of price differences can help drivers manage their budgets more effectively.
Looking ahead, as electric vehicles (EVs) become more prevalent, price comparisons like these may evolve to include charging station costs. For now, however, understanding the dynamics of traditional fuel pricing remains crucial for cost-conscious consumers.
