Galatasaray formalizes the contract extension of Dries Mertens, who will join Michy Batshuayi in Istanbul

Dries Mertens has extended his contract with Galatasaray for one season, the Turkish club announced in a statement on Wednesday evening. Dries Mertens, 37, will receive an annual salary of 2,900,000 euros.

Dries Mertens has been wearing the Galatasaray jersey since 2022 following nine seasons at Napoli. In his first two seasons with the Galathe former Red Devil played 84 games, compiling 19 goals and 23 assists. He also won two Turkish league titles and a Turkish Super Cup.

The winger also wore the jersey of Utrecht (2009-2011) and PSV Eindhoven (2011-2013) before joining Naples where he played 397 matches for 148 goals, becoming the top scorer in the history of the club.

Next season, Mertens will not be the only Belgian to play for the CimbomMichy Batshuayi has in fact signed with Galatasaray from eternal rivals Fenerbahce, where his contract was not extended.

Dries Mertens has 109 caps for the Red Devils, the last of which dates back to the last group match of the 2022 World Cup once morest Croatia.
