The municipality of Knokke-Heist has its own edition of Gault & Millau. The gastronomic guide not only lists the best restaurants in the coastal city, but also indicates where to find the best snacks, cocktails or ice cream. “This will make Knokke-Heist more than ever the ideal place to live a beautiful culinary experience.“, rejoices the alderman of Tourism Anthony Wittesaele.
The Gault & Millau dedicated to Knokke includes 148 addresses in the region, ranging from restaurants to beach bars to pubs. The municipal college will distribute 45,000 copies to residents of the municipality. The book will also be available in bookstores.
This initiative dates back a year and a half. “This is a pilot project“, explains Alderman Anthony Wittesaele.”We were looking for a way to promote the good life of our city during the summer and winter months.“he says.”Gault & Millau wanted to measure the potential of the regional editions of its guide. But then the pandemic broke out. The guide therefore took longer than expected, but it was also an opportunity to include this project in the city’s recovery plan.“
Establishments not listed in the guide can ask the gastronomic guide for the report and coaching. “I’m sure the late Léopold Lippens would be delighted“, points out Anthony Wittesaele.”He even helped approve this project. This ode to good living is therefore also partly its heritage.“
