GeForce NOW is significantly enhancing the virtual reality experience with the introduction of streaming at up to 90 frames per second (fps) for supported headsets. This upgrade, rolling out to members now, aims to deliver smoother, more responsive gameplay directly from the cloud. Alongside this VR boost, the cloud gaming service is also launching Pearl Abyss’ highly anticipated open-world action adventure, Crimson Desert, with GeForce RTX 5080-class power.
The 90 fps support extends to Apple Vision Pro, Meta Quest devices and Pico headsets for GeForce NOW Ultimate members. This performance leap promises crisper motion and a more immersive experience, transforming the way players interact with PC titles in virtual environments. All premium members will continue to benefit from NVIDIA RTX and DLSS technologies within supported games, further enhancing visual fidelity.
Crimson Desert, which amassed over 3 million wishlist additions on Steam, is now available to stream on GeForce NOW, leveraging the power of RTX 5080-class hardware. This allows players to experience the game’s expansive world and cinematic combat without being limited by their local system specifications. The game is available on Steam, alongside other platforms including PlayStation®5, PlayStation®5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam (PC & Mac), Epic Games Store, Mac App Store, and GeForce NOW, according to official notices from Pearl Abyss.
Immersive VR Gets a Performance Boost
The upgrade to 90 fps streaming for VR headsets represents a substantial improvement for GeForce NOW users. Previously, VR streaming was limited to lower frame rates, which could result in motion sickness or a less engaging experience. By doubling the frame rate for Ultimate members, NVIDIA aims to provide a more comfortable and visually appealing VR gaming experience. The service supports Apple Vision Pro, Meta Quest devices and Pico devices, offering a wide range of compatibility for VR enthusiasts.
GeForce NOW also supports performance-enhancing technologies like FSR 3/4 and DLSS 4/4.5 on PC, Upgraded PSSR for PS5 Pro, and FSR 3 for the PS5 base model and Xbox Series X|S. It also features support for AMD FSR Ray Regeneration and NVIDIA DLSS Ray Reconstruction on PC versions, according to recent FAQs.
Exploring the World of Crimson Desert
Crimson Desert plunges players into a war-torn fantasy world, offering a blend of large-scale exploration, cinematic storytelling, and fast-paced combat. Players take on the role of Kliff, a mercenary whose group is shattered by an ambush, and embark on a journey to reunite his companions and navigate a dangerous landscape. The game features a detailed open world, story-driven missions, mount riding, resource gathering, and challenging enemies.
GeForce NOW allows players to access Crimson Desert’s stunning visuals and demanding gameplay on a variety of devices, from low-spec laptops to compatible TVs and mobile devices. The cloud-based nature of the service eliminates the need for powerful local hardware, making the game accessible to a wider audience.
New Games and Tier Changes
In addition to Crimson Desert, GeForce NOW is adding several other titles this week, including Everwind, Retro Rewind – Video Store Simulator, and Fallout 3. World of Tanks is also launching a special event, “Battle Pass Special: Mafia,” from March 19-29.
However, some existing titles are being removed from the free tier starting April 1. Cyberpunk 2077, Forza Motorsport, Icarus, and Ark Survival Ascended will now require a premium membership, as the basic rig type no longer meets their minimum system requirements.
The GeForce NOW community is also hosting giveaways, including a VR headset giveaway on Reddit and a gaming giveaway hosted by creator Airie Summer on X.
