Warsaw has recalled the Polish Eurocorps commander because of espionage investigations. As the Ministry of Defense in Warsaw announced on Wednesday, the services launched a “control investigation” into General Jaroslaw Gromadzinski’s access to classified information “following new information regarding the officer.” Gromadzinski took over leadership of the Eurocorps, which is headquartered in Strasbourg, France, in June 2023.

The Eurocorps, founded in 1992 on the initiative of Germany and France, is a rapid deployment force available to NATO and the EU. The main task is the management and coordination of large international military operations. The Eurocorps can lead up to 60,000 soldiers; the headquarters in Strasbourg consists of a staff with support units with around a thousand employees.
