Lulu Sun (WTA 214) will not see the quarter-finals of the WTA 250 in Auckland. Coming from qualifying, the Genevan fell to Varvara Gracheva (42).

The Frenchwoman of Russian origin won 6-3 6-4 without conceding the slightest break. Despite real bravery which allowed her to reject seven break points out of the nine she had to defend, Lulu Sun was unable to defy the predictions.

This journey in his native country, however, allows him to approach the qualifications for the Australian Open next week with real optimism. She will be lining up for only the second time in qualifying for a Grand Slam tournament. She played at Wimbledon in 2022 where she was eliminated in the third and final round.
