Geraldo Martins reappointed as Prime Minister of Guinea-Bissau – news

The President of Guinea-Bissau, Umaro Sissoco Embaló, yesterday reappointed Geraldo Martins as Prime Minister, announcing the Guinean Presidency through a decree

Geraldo Martins is vice-president of the African Party for the Independence of Guinea and Cape Verde (PAIGC), which leads the Inclusive Alliance Platform (PAI – Terra Ranka) coalition, which won the last legislative elections in Guinea-Bissau, held last June.

Geraldo Martins took office yesterday, at 3:30 pm (4:30 pm in Luanda) at the Presidency of the Republic in Bissau.

The decree, read by Fernando Delfim da Silva, political advisor to the head of state, comes following Sissoco Embaló announced the dissolution of the Guinean parliament, on December 4, following military clashes that he considered to be an attempted coup d’état. .
