(Keystone-ATS) The Center reappointed Gerhard Pfister as head on Saturday for a third four-year term. Meeting in Schwyz, the party delegates confirmed it unanimously in a show of hands.

The 61-year-old Zug national councilor thanked them. “You had no alternative,” he joked to the laughter of the delegates. He looks forward to continuing the revival of the party.

Gerhard Pfister took over the presidency of the former PDC in 2016. He renewed the party, giving it a new name, and led it successfully in the federal elections last October.

The Geneva national councilor Vincent Maître becomes one of the three vice-presidents of the Center, alongside the national councilor Yvonne Bürgin (ZH) and the Jura senator Charles Juillard. Six other members are part of the party presidency.
