BERLIN (dpa-AFX) – The German government is calling for easier market access for German banks in China. China still needs to make efforts on this issue, we learned on Friday in Finance Ministry circles. The third Sino-German financial dialogue will take place on Sunday in Frankfurt. German Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP) and Chinese Deputy Prime Minister He Lifeng will attend.

According to those within the Ministry of Finance, it is above all a matter of creating a “level playing field”, that is to say equal competition. The federal government therefore wants to ensure that more German financial institutions obtain licenses in China. In addition, Frankfurt should be strengthened as a banking location and European “hub” for Chinese banks.

The debts of many developing countries as well as the preparation for the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in mid-October in Morocco will also be discussed. The Sino-German financial dialogue will also be the occasion for a meeting between the directors of German and Chinese banks /hoe/DP/men.
