Berlin – Germany’s Health Minister Karl Lauterbach has spoken out in favor of a new attempt to review the state’s crisis management in the corona pandemic after the German federal election. “It will be one of the first things a new federal government owes the population,” said the SPD politician to the ARD broadcaster. This is also needed with a view to misunderstandings and mutual accusations. “We have to bring society together again.”

**Karl Lauterbach:** Absolutely. The pandemic exposed various challenges in our crisis‍ management systems, and there were‍ many misunderstandings and⁣ accusations throughout. It’s vital that we evaluate⁢ our responses, not only⁢ to learn from our past but to rebuild trust within ‌society. A comprehensive review ⁤will help us understand ‌what ⁣worked well and what didn’t, ensuring we are better prepared for future crises.

**Interviewer:** Some critics argue that⁢ such a review‌ could reopen old wounds and deepen divisions. How do ‌you address these concerns?

**Karl Lauterbach:** I understand‌ those ⁢concerns; however, facing our past ‍honestly is essential for healing. A ⁢transparent evaluation can promote dialogue and pave the⁤ way for reconciliation. We need⁤ to engage in discussions that bring people together rather than drive them apart.

**Interviewer:** Given the polarized views on pandemic measures, what steps do you propose‌ to ensure that this review fosters unity rather than division?

**Karl ⁤Lauterbach:** We must involve a wide range of stakeholders—health officials, politicians, and⁤ citizens from diverse ⁤backgrounds—in the review process. Listening to different perspectives will create a more inclusive environment that encourages unity. Furthermore, we must be open ‌to criticism and ⁣learn from it.

**Interviewer:** It seems like ⁢you’re advocating quite a significant change in how we approach public health⁤ policy. How do you envision the public’s response to this initiative?

**Karl Lauterbach:** I hope ⁣the public recognizes the importance of this review for our collective future. It’s an opportunity for⁤ growth ‍and reflection. I encourage everyone to engage in ⁢this conversation because their voices are crucial in shaping⁤ a more resilient public health strategy.

**Interviewer:** Thank⁢ you, ‍Minister Lauterbach. In light of this proposed review, how do you think ‍the public feels about revisiting ‍pandemic management, and ⁤what insights can they provide for a more coherent approach moving forward? Should it be a⁢ priority for the new government?

**Karl Lauterbach:** Exactly, that’s the ‌dialogue‍ we need to foster. I invite everyone to reflect on their experiences ⁣during the pandemic and share their⁢ opinions. How can we learn ⁢from⁤ the past ⁤to ‌create a better future? The responsibility lies not just ⁤with‌ the government but with all of us.

What do you think? Is revisiting the pandemic management a⁤ necessary step for Germany’s‍ future, or could it exacerbate existing divides? Share ‍your thoughts!
