Berlin: Widespread protests in Germany once morest plans to phase out agricultural subsidies in the country. International media reported that German farmers blocked most of Berlin’s major roads with tractors.

Placing banners and posters saying ‘No beer without farmers’, the farmers came to the capital city with tractors to protest. German police said farmers staged protests on important roads and fields in the country along the borders with France.

Despite sub-zero temperatures, the media reported that the protesters were critical of the government with posters of the far-right Alternative for Germany party.

Currently the farmers’ requests have received support from opposition leaders and Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s Social Democratic Party. The farmers also said that the leaders failed to implement the words given to them by the German government.

But the protesting farmers may have joined the country’s far-right leaders.

In addition, international media reported that workers in Germany’s transport sector and education sector will move to the industrial sector in the coming weeks.

Unions have decided to go on a three-day strike and the railway workers will go on a walkout next Wednesday to demand a wage hike to offset the months-long inflation in the country, reports said.
