Get started with MacBook Air and MacBook Pro 13 with Apple M1 processors

It’s a big day for the Mac with the arrival of the first models equipped with Apple’s M1 processor to customers. La Pomme promised a lot of performance and its parents said they were amazed themselves by their creation. It will take more hindsight to judge these new Macs, including their autonomy, but the first hours spent in their company show that we have entered a new era for the Mac.

We each bought representatives of the new MacBook Air, MacBook Pro 13 “and Mac mini ranges, ie 6 configurations all equipped with the M1 processor and its integrated graphics chip. We will come back to these machines at greater length but we can immediately confirm that the performance gains claimed by Apple were not exaggerated.

On an aesthetic level first, and quickly, Apple has not changed anything. Between the system part, the software and the processor, the manufacturer already had plenty to do to get out of Intel’s orbit and ensure that everything works. Perhaps he did not want to tempt the devil by adding, in addition, an overhaul of proven designs.

She still felt the need to change her keyboards: not on the design of the keys but on the role of some. Voice Dictation, Do Not Disturb, and Spotlight actions are now on three function keys.
