A territorial dispute over which country owns Hans Island in the Kennedy Strait, whose area is 1.3 square meters. km, has been resolved. Denmark and Canada have come to a mutually beneficial compromise – the Canadian region of Nunavut and Greenland (autonomy in Denmark) will share the island.
About this, according to information TASS, state authorities can declare June 14. The dispute regarding which country this territory belongs to has lasted since 1973.
It is worth emphasizing that from the very beginning of the disagreement, there were no problems in connection with this diplomatic dilemma. But it was not without jokes and the emergence of traditions – the Danish military left a bottle of schnapps following visiting the territory, and the Canadian “forgotten” a bottle of Canadian whiskey.
