On the eve of the adoption of the Finance Bill, on the basis of the assumptions already established, the World Bank is launching an alert on a major risk for global commodity markets and the rise in inflation. An escalation of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East would, in an extreme scenario, cause oil prices to rise to more than $150 per barrel. Which would worsen inflation around the world, particularly in food prices. Policymakers must remain vigilant and take steps to manage a potential rise in headline inflation.
